Florida Homeowner's Insurance

Many Florida homeowners are finding it difficult and frustrating to compare the cost of homeowners insurance. The State of Florida's Shop and Compare site is intended as a starting point to help you compare rates and to demonstrate the importance of shopping around for the best policy to provide the coverage and terms you need to protect your home.

On the site you will find approved rates from a sampling of insurance companies for a typical Florida home. The typical rates quoted here are not guaranteed rates, but are only intended to demonstrate that rates vary significantly from company to company. Please contact the insurance companies or agents of your choice to obtain a quote for your home.

To begin comparing homeowners’ insurance, select one of the examples below:

$150,000 Value -- Pre-2001 Construction

This risk is for a Florida masonry home built in 1990, with a current replacement value of $150,000, a $500 non-hurricane deductible, a 2% hurricane deductible, and no claims in the past three years. Premium examples are shown for both maximum wind mitigation features, and no wind mitigation features.

$300,000 Value -- New Construction

This risk is for a Florida masonry home built in 2005, with a current replacement value of $300,000, a $500 non-hurricane deductible, a 2% hurricane deductible, no claims in the past three years, and minimum premium discounts for limited wind mitigation features and no hip roof.

To get more info about wind mitigation features, view Form OIR-B1-1655.
